Lash Extensions

Oh gosh! Ever since peak season for weddings started, I didn't have time to sit down and post new stuff! I have literally boxes of new products right now and I still haven't gone through them! Ugh!

But anyway, this morning, I have time to write something before I have to leave for a shoot so here goes: Lash Extensions.

Truthfully, I don't like them on brides. It is my pet peeve when brides get them because first of all, when makeup gets on them, you can't clean them. You can't curl, apply mascara, or do anything! This opinion of mine comes from the makeup artist side of me. But I wanted to see from the personal side of me why women get so addicted with them.

Last Friday, I had some me-time after a shoot and I was in the Landmark area. I remember seeing my hairstylist friend, Tot, a few days before and saw her gorgeous natural looking lashes. She told me all about i-Lash and their awesome prices and I was really seduced to try them.

And so I did that day. The only iffy thing about getting them is having your eyes closed for an hour and 45 minutes, and could sometimes reach two hours which really bites. During the procedure, I have thought countless times about just opening my eyes and say "ayoko na!" but I endured it,

I wasn't able to take pics of the place nor of myself during the procedure (obviously) but I was able to take photos of myself after... and a few days after:

These photos are makeup-free me! So be kind, I take time off from wearing makeup as often as I possibly can :)

Right after the procedure. I asked the technician to take a photo of my newly installed lashes!

Of course, I asked my hubby to take a photo of me when I slept. Hahaha! Don't you just love 'em?

Open-eyes shot.

Side view.

I must say, I love 'em. They are not that high-maintenance as some people would say, they're actually doable and good for the eyes because you prevent touching your eye a lot which is always not a good thing because our hands are dirty.

Airing them to dry is not as bad as it sounds. I am so used to rubbing my eyes after showering but the lashes keep me from doing so which is sooooo bad for wrinkles! LOL

After a few days (yes, days), some of the lashes start to fall off even though I kept my hands away. I love that they are wash and wear and even with minimal makeup, you look absolutely FAB!

I still WOULD NOT recommend them for bride-to-bes because my opinion still stands that they are really hard to clean when makeup gets to them! Get them after you're married! Hahaha!

Click HERE to check out i-Lash's branches!

Would you or wouldn't you? Do tell!

Review: Sally Hansen Lavender Spa Wax Kit

Hey gorgeous!

Welcome back from the long weekend! Hope you guys had a good one as much as I did! I spent the long vacay in Subic, and one of my favorite past times in Subic is going shopping in Royal Subic. It's a haven of PX goods for beauty products!

I was due for another home waxing kit, and I meant to get my favorite Nanny Rose's Sticks & Pulls as soon as I got home to Manila, but I came across this in Royal Subic:

The Lavender Spa Wax Kit. It had me at "microwave". For those of you who don't know yet, I had an unfortunate incident/accident with Epilin's Home Waxing kit that ended me going to the Emergency Room of Makati Med, so that's when I switched to microwaveable ones or cold waxing.

It was on sale too! From $11 (P451) to $8.50 (P348.50) so I figured, why not? I love the packaging (of course, that is a huge deal for me). It comes with an idiot-proof instructions inside so, what the heck!

The box contains one (1) 170g Hair Removal Wax, eight (8) wood applicators, spatulas (20) cloth strips, and one (1) finishing oil.

Its claims: Lavender is a known anti-irritant that helps soothe and comfort skin.

The consistency is very very sticky. If it gets on your hands, it's not washable under running water. You have to use the oil to remove the stickiness from your hands! That one is a minus for me. Nanny Rose's home waxing kit can be washed off using running water. You can reuse the cloths and the spatulas by just cleaning the stuff with water.

It has a good runny consistency after I heated the wax in the microwave for 1 minute. I love that it's very spreadable! Nanny Rose's wax is a bit of a struggle when applying it on the "hairy area" teehee.

OVERALL RATING: 2/5. And I won't purchase again.

Although the packaging is attractive, and the smell is divine! I won't purchase this again. Sadly, I had to use about 5 cloth strips on one armpit (of course, I didn't have to show you the gruesome photos of my armpit! LOL) and a lot of hair still remained! PLUS! It was unbelievably sticky, it was almost annoying.

Nanny Rose still takes the cake by a mile. Have you ladies tried both products yet? What's your take on it?

Belle De Jour: BDJ Box Launch

#events

Belle De Jour launched their version of "beauty in a box" last October 24 and I was lucky enough to be invited to their exclusive launch at Slice at the Fort.

I sat with fellow beauty mavens Shen (of ShensAddiction.com), Valerie (of GlamBox), and Cielo (of Oleic Accessories). I love these ladies. We chatted non-stop about makeup products and the beauty industry whilst enjoying our lunch before the program.

Sorry, I just had to include the amazing caramel chocolate cupcake that was served with coffee or tea. It was just d-lish!

After our amazing lunch, the program started. Kat Dy who hosted the event and who is also part of the gorgeous team who put BDJ Box together, talked about BDJ Box, who are the creative beauties behind it, and what their mission is. Super fun!

This little info booklet has all the info you need about BDJ Box!

Ladies who lunch. LOL. I love these lovely ladies! Thanks for a great launch!

Now, when I got home, I was just too excited. It's my first "beauty in a box" package after this concept took America by storm! I just had so much fun unraveling my box!

I so love the sticker. I think it really does give you that extra boost of self confidence!

I just love the uber girly packaging. Yes, as you already know, I am a big sucker for cute packaging!

I love that BDJ Box provides an info card of the products they have included in the box!

You wouldn't expect such a small box can contain so much goodies! I was ecstatic!

Don't you just love sample sizes or travel sizes? I just love how easily I can finish one, and with my job, I can hardly finish products because I constantly open new products to try, and sample sizes are just perfect to test if you'll like it.

Yay! I love new products to try! I have been constantly looking for a good dandruff shampoo that doesn't smell... Selsun Blue smells like copper and so does those prescriptions one. This one looks promising! I hope I'm not allergic (Clear shampoo cured me and smells good but I'm allergic... I found out the hard way).

This I already love. It's my conditioner of choice! It does wonders to my unruly, naturally wavy hair!

I was so happy to have found this in my box! I have always wanted to try this product and now I get to! I can't really sample the ones in the L'Oreal counters because I'm already wearing makeup and sampling it on your hand doesn't really do any good.

This one too! I can't wait to use this tonight!

Garnier is my favorite brightening product. Their products really brighten the face and lightens dark spots! I've been using their products for a while now but I've never tried this one yet and I'm glad to see this in the box! Yay!

To be honest, I've heard of this brand before but I've never really heard too much hype on it that sparked my interest for me to try it. Now I get to try it with this sample size! I'm actually excited.

This product I know already works wonders, so no need for introductions.

The beautiful ladies behind BDJ Box!

Thank you BDJ for my first ever very femme BDJ planner! I love it!

This is just way too cool! When I opened my planner, another surprise was waiting inside! My BDJ Lifestyle Card! Lots more discounts from lots of clothing stores, makeup, and even coffee shops!

For only P480/month, you get so much beauty in a box! ♥

The secret to beautiful young-looking skin unlocked!

#events

I was s honored to be invited to Perricone MD's intimate lunch of 16 guests at The Makati Shangri-La's RED restaurant last October 23, 2012.

Perricone MD was launching 3 new breakthrough anti-aging products, and there to introduce the products and give more information about Perricone's legendary products was Ms. Jane Meredith.

Ms. Meredith is very passionate about beautiful skin, health and overall wellness. She is Perricone MD's international trainer, who is very eager to share Dr. Perricone's core philosophy: "Beauty from the inside out and the outside in".

She also explained how Dr. Perricone discovered Perricone MD's star products and what they do for the skin. I am just amazed how Ms. Meredith knew all there is to know about all of Perricone MD's products by heart.

When the lunch was over, we were given a parting gift, and inside, was three of their newest and latest products to celebrate Perricone MD's 15th year.

FORMULA 15

Formula 15 is the improved version of the first Perricone product, Face Firming Activator which minimizes the length, width, and depth of a wrinkle. I love how it smells on the skin. Perricone doesn't add fragrance to their products because Dr. Perricone doesn't want to compromise the delivery system of the product on the skin.

VITAMIN C ESTER 15

This has got to be my most favorite product of the bunch. I love that it promises to lighten my dark spots and freckles in just 7 days. Of course, it's only been 2 days so I haven't seen results... YET. I am very excited. I love how refreshing it smells too!

This product contains 15% of Vitamin C Ester, the highest concentration of the powerful key ingredient in a single product. This comes in a highly penetrating non-acidic form that harnesses super anti-aging powers without generating free radicals in the skin.

You apply this product generously on your skin, and these 4 tubes should last about 2 months. You can't use this product with any other product with Retinol though. So if you will be using this product, you should use it alone after you cleanse and you tone.

NO CONCEALER CONCEALER

This product is just amazing. I love how creamy it is and how it really blends on the skin. It only comes in one shade though so according to Ms. Meredith, it's still not for women who have really fair skin, or dark skin. They will come up with more shades though next year.

It comes with a pump (which I forgot to photograph) that pumps way too much product in 1 press so best to just pump half way on the back of your hand and blend with your fingers to "heat" the product making it more blendable.

Our little parting gift came with a mini-recipe book for overall wellness:

And another booklet that contains all of their products and its information:

After hearing Ms. Meredith's sworn testimonials about her skin's improvement by using Perricone MD, I am now religious with applying the products on my skin in the morning and at night. I know that when I run out, I will buy more of Perricone MD's products.

I really want to try Perricone MD's No Foundation Foundation! How about you? Do you have a favorite Perricone MD product? Tell me about it! :)

Bobbi To Go!

*This just in! The Bobbi to Go Palette will only be exclusively available tomorrow, October 27, 2012 as a special gift with purchase of P7,000 (single receipt) at Bobbi Brown Rustan's Makati and Rustan's Edsa Shangri-La stores. There will only be 30pcs available per store. Palette with mascara is worth P3,000.*

Bobbi Brown Cosmetics gave me a beautiful palette and it was "to-go" indeed! I was in a hurry one time to leave the house because I had shoots the whole day and an event in the evening. I just shoved the box in my bag and went out the door!

When I opened the box, it was such a delight! I was able to make a smokey eye with the palette! LOVE IT! So, thank you Bobbi Brown Cosmetics!

I just love the sleek packaging. I have a tiny makeup kit for my purse and this palette fits in perfectly!
I love the colors too. The light colors can be used for day looks, and the darker colors can be layered on to change any day look to night! The brush it comes with is great for creating smokey looks!

I like the name of the mascara too, it's just too cute! Hehehe... "Extreme Party Mascara", how cute is that? LOL

Let me share 2 looks with you using this palette!

DAY LOOK:

Eyeshadows used from the palette:

Lid: Navajo Metallic Eyeshadow
Lashlines to Crease: Cement
Lashes: Extreme Party Mascara

*Apply Navajo eyeshadow on your entire lid from lashline to brow bone. Then apply the Cement eyeshadow from lashline to the crease. Blend the edges with a clean brush to remove any harsh lines. Curl your lashes and apply 2 coats of Extreme Party Mascara.

NIGHT LOOK:

Eyeshadows used from the palette (Sorry about the eyeshadow fallout!):

Upper and lower lashlines: Caviar

*Apply Caviar eyeshadow on your lash lines blending very well on the edges to create a smoky effect. Apply more mascara!
