Stick foundations was relatively new in the market when I first started doing makeup in 2004, and I always opted for liquid foundation (First of all, it looked cooler to have more bottles in your kit. Hee-hee). I first started using stick foundations when I started to travel for makeup gigs. I had to downsize my makeup kit, and transfer my liquid foundations to lightweight plastic dispensers.

Then years later, I had to move on to airbrushing to keep up with the times, and had long forgotten how much I loved stick foundations. Until recently.

CONTOURING. There’s a word most women fear when I put makeup on them. They think that contouring will make them look mannequin-like, and it's completely understandable. Contouring is actually very helpful when done right. This technique is specially important for women with no creases like me. It will give your eyes depth.

Let me tell you about the importance of contouring when done the right way. It can shape your face, or make your nose more “matangos”.

For me, I love contouring the cheekbones and the eyes. Not necessarily on me but I love doing it on my brides as well. For me, it gives my eyes depth, and make my cheekbones higher, hence, making my face elongated as opposed to being round.

Makeup sure that when you’re putting on makeup, that you look 3D rather than just slapping on the makeup on your face. The makeup contours don’t have to be dark and obvious like what they do in the theaters, by using a half shade darker of the product you are going to use like a bronzer or a matte eyeshadow, will be as natural looking as creating a subtle shadow.

Use a contouring eyeshadow brush or cheek brush that is angled. It creates the most natural looking contours. This angled brush is my favorite for my personal use. I found this angled brush in Landmark, which they now sell a wide variety of good pro-quality brushes at reasonable prices.

This "Jenny" short-handled angled blending brush has natural hair and it's great for contouring the creases. And the best part? It only costs P167!

I was in a shoot today with Robbie Pinera. While he was doing makeup, I was going through his makeup kit and saw that he has Chanel's Bronze Universel.

Bronze Universel is a cream bronzer which goes on like foundation anywhere you need a glow.

I was about to try it on my hand but we had to start shooting already. I couldn't get the product out of my mind so I went by Rustan's to buy myself one before my bridal clients arrive at home at 5:30PM.

The moment I touched the product, I already fell in love with it! The consistency is so creamy and it glides on easily. So easy to blend with a foundation brush too! If you are going to invest in this amazing product, I recommend blending with a Kabuki Brush as well. Suesh Brushes have great Kabuki Brushes for only PhP 700!



This product is so creamy and smells amazing. The shade is classy and golden, great for all skin types. And because it's a cream formula, you don't need much foundation underneath. A tiny bit of this product goes a long way, not to mention the jar is huge! So it lasts forever.

I used the product to contour my brides' faces and they all loved the effect it gave. It wasn't too orange that's why it looked so natural. I give this product a 2 thumbs up!!

HOW TO APPLY:

1. Dip your ring finger from tip until halfway down your finger so that you have an inch worth of product on your finger.

2. Apply the product just below your cheek bones and blend downward.

3. With a Kabuki Brush, blend in small circular motions until there are no more hard lines, but faint line is visible just below your cheekbones is showing.

4. Dust translucent powder all over your face to set your bronzer!

I just LOVE beauty finds specially once that are a bargain!

I just recently came from a Subic trip. Subic, as most of you know, is known for its duty free shops. We were browsing the beauty aisles at the Royal Subic when I came across a small box with STILA sets! I didn't even give it a second thought, I just grabbed a box and put it in my cart!
